"Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank."

— Proverbs 22:29 (NIV)

What if the only person truly limiting your destiny… is you?

Some people might think they have full control over others' destinies, but that influence only exists if you let it. Both the rich and the poor share this truth: The Lord is the Maker of them all (Proverbs 22:2, NKJV). God created us to be each other's helpers because the world is fundamentally interconnected. However, what you ultimately become depends on you. While your environment, helpers, and social connections can influence you, the final decision rests with you.

Even without helpers, you can make yourself indispensable in your field.

Here's what to do: work diligently.

Work diligently and perfect your craft.

Mastering your skill is essential. The Bible says that those who excel in their work will serve before kings, not before unknown men (Proverbs 22:29, NKJV). It doesn't matter if you have a prestigious job or work in a large city; what counts is mastering your profession. So whatever you do, do it with dedication.

The Real Secret to Greatness

The key to greatness lies in working diligently…

Are you a utility worker? Perform your duties diligently. Are you teaching kids? Do it diligently. Are you a farmer? Work on it diligently. Are you a police officer? Perform your duties diligently. Are you a petty trader? Do it diligently.

Because greatness doesn't come from the title, it comes from the way you carry the title.

The Bible clearly states: those who are skilled and diligent in their work will stand before kings, not ordinary men (Proverbs 22:29, NKJV).

That means excellence creates access. Skill opens doors. Mastery attracts opportunities.

What Does It Truly Mean to Work Diligently?

Diligence is more than simply "working hard." It's:

Paying close attention to detail. Demonstrating consistency even when no one is watching. Taking pride in doing things well, not just quickly. Committing to growth every single day.

Diligence is the practice of doing simple things exceptionally well.

And this is what happens when you live like that…

Diligence will guide you to master your craft, and once you become a master in your field, opportunities will come your way, and blessings will find you, even if you're sweeping streets.

People will talk about you and recommend you, and blessings will surely follow. Master your craft, and opportunities will follow. Those who disrespect you now will have no choice but to respect you once you become essential. Money will come, but first, focus on perfecting your skills. That skill will open new doors and serve as protection.

In this world, some people are admired for excelling at their craft. No matter what their critics say or do behind the scenes, society acknowledges the value of their abilities.

The solution isn't necessarily to find a "better job," though you might want to change your situation. The key is to master what you're doing and be proactive; aim to become a master in your field (Proverbs 18:16, NIV).

The golden rule is: "Chase the skill rather than the money; then money and respect will follow."

Money always follows skill, but the reverse isn't true. If you're only after money, you might lose both mastery and wealth.

Mastery Changes Everything

When you master your craft:

You cease pursuing opportunities, they begin pursuing you. You become valuable, rather than just available. You stand out from the competition because excellence shines through. Blessings don't come randomly, they find those who are ready.

So instead of stressing over who's helping you… Rather than waiting for someone to "open a door"…

Aim to develop such a skill that you stand out to others.

You might not have control over where you began. You might not have control over who supports you.

But you do have control over how seriously you take your growth. And that shifts everything.

So the question is, are you waiting for help, or are you making yourself indispensable to society?

This devotional connects with our teaching on why you should not worry about tomorrow and the four Bible rules of money.

Psalm: Milk and Honey

Listen, O man, hear the Voice of many waters: "By the sweat of your brow, you will eat bread."

Listen, all you who expect miracle money: there is no manna waiting for you! Did manna really come from heaven? Christ said, "Moses did not give you bread from heaven", was it not of natural origin?

There is only one Bread from heaven, and that Bread is in me. Therefore, I boldly declare that I have the grace within me to prosper. All I need to do is "work", and You will bless the sweat of my brow.

You have said, "Commit your works to me, and you will be established." Therefore, I strive daily to master my skills and pray for new opportunities. I know that my skills will speak for me at the gates. Though things may look discouraging now, there is still God in it, you will bless the work of my hands.

Blessed is the man who does not look down on his beginnings but recognizes greatness in small things. With my heart, I see my small beginnings, not with physical eyes but through God's perspective.

Stealing and extortion are traps, but those who work diligently will receive their pay from God, not merely from men. They will receive recommendations.

O Lord, show me the way. Please help me be diligent in my job and help my children be diligent in their studies. Let us master our skills and be the head, not the tail, in this world.

The land flows with milk and honey, but who will benefit from it? Only those who understand the principles you established before time began.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for Your love and sacrifice. Amen.
