“Why are you fearful, O you of little faith” (Matthew 8: 24-26, NIV)
Life can sometimes feel like a storm—loud, confusing, and overwhelming. Plans fail, doors close, prayers seem delayed, and everything appears to slip beyond our control. In moments like these, fear whispers, “You are alone.” But God gently reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).
Being still does not mean doing nothing. It means quieting the noise of worry, fear, and doubt so we can Trust in the Lord who truly holds everything together. When life feels out of control, God is not surprised, not shaken, and not defeated. He sees the full picture while we only see a small part.
Sometimes God calms the storm. Other times, He calms His child in the middle of the storm. The same God who parted the sea, closed the lions’ mouths, and raised the dead is still at work today—often in quiet, unseen ways. Even when nothing seems to change, God is moving pieces into place for your good.
Worry tries to take control, but walking by faith releases control to God. Being still is choosing trust over panic, prayer over fear, and hope over despair. It is resting in the truth that God’s timing is perfect, His plans are higher, and His love never fails.
If your heart feels heavy today, pause. Breathe. Pray. Remember how far God has brought you. The battle you fear today is already known to Him. The path you cannot see is clear to Him. And the future that worries you is safely in His hands.
So be still, not because life is easy, but because God is in control. Grow deeper through the discipline of prayer.
